American Idol Season 7 - Top 12

Theme: Lennon/McCartney

Syesha Mercado, 21
Sarasota, FL
"Got To Get In To My Life"
The song was boring but I thought the vocals were good. I'm rooting for her to be in the top 5.
Randy: "It was alright for me."
Paula: "You sounded great from the mid-way through to the end."
Simon: "I thought it was better than alright, Randy."

Chikezie, 22
Englewood, CA
"She's A Woman"
Was a different Chikezie that I'm used to seeing perform. Looked like he was having a lot of fun.
Randy: "I was thoroughly entertained. Chikezie smashed it."
Paula: "I've been waiting for this. The reward paid off."
Simon: "I thought you were terrific."

Ramiele Malubay, 20
Miramar, FL
"In My Life"
I think she has a nice voice but she comes off so boring. I expect her to be voted off soon.
Randy: "It was kind of pretty boring to me."
Paula: "It was pretty safe. I feel like you're holding back."
Simon: "I was bored to tears throughout the entire song. It was forgettable, boring, and I expect a lot more from you."

Jason Castro, 20
Rockwall, TX
"If I Fell"
Doesn't have the personality of an American Idol but what do I know. I never would've guessed that Jason would have made it to the top 24 so I'm really shocked to see him in the top 12.
Randy: "I liked it but I didn't love it."
Paula: "You have an emotional connection to the songs you pick and that's what I think America can expect"
Simon: "Tonight it was all a little bit student in a bedroom at midnight. I thought the song was quite boring."

Carly Smithson, 24
San Diego, CA
"Come Together"
Carly is not on of my personal top pics but I have to say that voice-wise, she is definitely in the top 3. I think she performed well tonight.
Randy: "You sounded amazing. Stellar performance. Stellar."
Paula: "Watching you up there, I feel like I was already watching a star."
Simon: "Week after week so far I think that you have chosen the wrong song - until now."

David Cook, 23
Blue Springs, MO
"Eleanor Rigby"
I think David has a nice voice but I didn't get his performance and didn't like his song choice.
Randy: "Once you hit that chorus it was rockin'"
Paula: "I thnk you are fantastic every week you come out. You are the front man on American Idol."
Simon: "David, I thought it was brilliant. You could actually win this entire show."

Brooke White, 24
Mesa, AZ
"Let It Be"
To be honest with you, I didn't care for Brooke in the beginning of the competition. But throughout, she has grown on me. The last couple of weeks her performances have been really good. But tonight, the song choice was cool but the performance was boring.
Randy: "You gave a very heartfelt performance."
Paula: "This is your niche (picking songs)."
Simon: "I thought it was again one of the best performances of the night."

David Hernandez, 24
Glendale, AZ
"I Saw Her Standing There"
Dave is in my top 5. His performance was good but Ididn't care too much for this vocals tonight. I think he could have done better.
Randy: "It (the song) was a little too over done. You were trying to do too much with it. I was kind of lost from the jump."
Paula: "I feel like you kind of over did it a little bit. I think you need to scale back."
Simon: "David - No, No, No. I thought it was corny verging on desparate."

Amanda Overmyer, 23
Mulberry, IN
"You Can't Do That"
I never did like Amanda's singing and truly don't see what the judges see. Or should I say, hear what they hear.
Randy: "You took a Beatles song and rocked it out. I thought it was very cool."
Paula: "You are a star up there. I am blown away."
Simon: "I understood about 30% of what you sang. It was like you were slurring a lot of the words."

Michael Johns, 29
Buckhead, GA
"Across the Universe"
Who is Michael Johns? He just doesn't stand out to me in this competition. He's the only one that if I saw him out on the street, I wouldn't know who he was.
Randy: "I thought it was good. A little sleepy but alright."
Paula: "I thought it was a brilliant performance."
Simon: "It was a little bit monotonous. It was solid, it was good but now is the point where you've got to let yourself go a little bit because I'm still a big, big fan of yours.

Kristy Lee Cook, 24
Selma, OR
"8 Days a Week"
My opinion - why is she still here? I don't see why she's here and others are gone. Kristy's performance was, in the words of Simon, "a bit karaoke".
Randy: "Vocally, I felt you tried to force some runs into it. I'm kind of torn with this one. Half liked it, half didn't."
Paula: "I didn't enjoy it. I didn't get it."
Simon: "I thought it was horrendous. You sounded like Dolly Parton on helium."

David Archuleta, 17
Murray, UT
"We Can Work It Out"
He's a cute little boy. His performances to date have been pretty good. He can definitely sing and is in my top 5. Tonight was not one of his best performances.
Randy: "This week it was not on point. This kind of vibe is not your vibe. It felt forced."
Paula: "This wasn't your best week. Never let it (forgetting the lyrics) show on your face."
Simon: "That was a mess. It was just all over the place. It was your weakest performance so far."
