American Idol Season 6 - Guys Night

February 20, 1997

1. Rudy Cardenas - "Free Ride"
Randy: "Really corny, Dude."
Paula: "I thought you did a fantastic job."
Simon: "I've never heard you do anything which is unique. I don't think you have a distinctive voice."

2. Brandon Rogers - "I Wanna Rock Wit You"
Randy: "It was a little weird here and there."
Paula: "You're a lead vocalist now and you are great."
Simon: "You're better than that."

3. Sundance Head - "Nights in White Satin"
Randy: "It was really strange for me."
Paula: "I think you picked the wrong song."
Simon: "Tonight you were like Dad at a wedding... I don't like you tonight."

4. Paul Kim - "Careless Whipser"
Randy: "I still see a lot of promise for you."
Paula: "You kind of oversang the song and didn't find your center."
Simon: "I would suggest you put your shoes on if you sing again next week."

5. Chris Richardson - "I Don't Want To Be"
Randy: "Don't be scared."
Paula: "I was a lot of fun. Way to go."
Simon: "If I'm judging on the vocal, I thought it was below standard."

6. Nick Pedro - "Now and Forever"
Randy: "It wasn't good for me, Dog. It was really, really boring."
Paula: "The magic kind of fell flat."
Simon: "I think you'll definitely be back next week."

7. Blake Lewis - "Somewhere Only We Know"
Randy: "I was shocked... but I kind of dug it."
Paula: "Your vocals were spot on. You bring a contemporary vibe and I love it."
Simon: "By far the best performace we had tonight."

8. Sanjaya Malakar - "Knocks Me Off My Feet"
Randy: "I didn't think it was very good...it was really bad."
Paula: "You're a sweet soul and it comes across when you sing...you have a very nice voice...I wish more of your personality and more force came through in your performance."
Simon: " It was without question the most dreary performace we had all night."

9. Chris Sligh - "Typical"
Randy: "I loved it, I like you, I think you're the bomb Baby."
Paula: "You're anything but typical."
Simon: "I kind of felt I was at some weird student gig."

10. Jared Cotter - "Back at One"
Randy: "It was pretty good. I didn't like the way it ended."
Paula: "I liked when you were singing more up tempo song. It sounded like how Brian McKnight would have interpreted it."
Simon: "A very unadventerous performace."

11. A.J. Tabaldo - "Never Too Much"
Randy: "Vocally it was pretty good."
Paula: "You can definitely sing!"
Simon: "It was good, nothing great, nothing terrible."

12. Phil Stacey - "I Could Not Ask For More"
Randy: "You get the best vocal prize of the night."
Paula: "Man you just opened up and you were right on pitch."
Simon: "The beginning was absolutely monsterous. I think it was okay."
