Crazy People

What is wrong with people? I mean for real.

A group of ladies wanted to get a book club together. But there were really no purposes set for the club.

So, it was stated that the book club's purpose would be to uplift others within the club. Okay, that's fine.

#1 Someone says that they believe we should all read christian fiction books. Others commented that you can be uplifted by reading other books other than all christian fiction books. Well, the one person who wanted christian fiction is not happy about it and makes sure she expresses that every chance she gets. You know what I say, get out of the club then.

#2 At our 3rd meeting, we all got together and picked books for the rest of the year. Everyone put their choices in a bowl. Then books were pulled out of the bowl one by one and assigned to a month. The first book picked to read for February was "Passion Marks" by Lee Hayes. Let me just say that if a book is scheduled for any particular month, when you're in a book club, that is the book that you read. Anyway, there were complaints about the book. Of course, these complaints were not discussed in the group together. Complaints were made to club members individually. I mean come on, what else would you expect from grown women?
Needless to say, the person who had put the book in as a suggestion was upset because people were saying that they weren't going to read the book. She had read the book and was anxiously awaiting the meeting date to discuss the book.
This person got really upset. But I think she was more upset because she calls herself "The Outcast" because she's the only one out of the group that does not work in the same place as every one else. This person believes that everyone is talking about her behind her back and getting together and talking to one another throughout the day. This person doesn't like that fact that everyone else can talk to each other on a daily basis but she only gets to talk to everyone once a month.
It was explained to her that (1) everyone doesn't see each other or even talk to each other every day. We all work in different parts of the building. (2) When we do see or talk to each other, it's never about the book club. That's saved for the book club meetings.
This person still couldn't believe that and has decided to drop out of the book club.
Well, at this point, I say good riddance. I'm tired of this immature bull crap and don't have any time for it.

#3 Because there were issues about how the books were picked, I suggested that everyone submit books that they believe would be good for the book club to read going off of the purpose that we had set up. There are 8 people in the club. Only 2 people submitted suggestions. Okay, that is fine. I stated that for the book club to be what we want it to be, that everyone had to pitch in and do their part. I compiled the suggestions of the 2 book club members, sent out an email of the list (the list included a synopsis of each book), and asked everyone to please vote on the books that they wanted to read so that the books we read would be books that EVERYONE had agreed upon reading. Know what I mean? The books that the majority of people picked/liked, those would be the books that we would read this year.
Of course you have to give people deadlines. Plus, we need to go ahead and pick the book for March so that we can get started on it. Well, out of the 8 people in the club, 3 people submitted book choices. A 4th person said that it didn't matter what books we picked, she will read everything and that it was more important that we get together and discuss something and that it didn't matter what it was.
No one else has said anything or submitted anything. Now really, WT@?
What's wrong with people?

I'm thinking about getting out myself and just saying forget about it. I'm already an avid reader and trying to get into writing so there are other things I can do with the 2-3 hours that we'd spend a month on discussing books that no one else has even tried to comment on.

Well, I'll just see what happens but from the way things look right now, I don't think this is going to happen.
